Dear Ms. Goren:
Cortical dysplasia is one of the most difficult causes of epilepsy in terms of treatment. The Cleveland Clinic's epilepsy surgery program is the busiest program in the United States if not the world.
Surgical resection in these cases must be preceded by careful preoprative evaluation and video EEG monitoring. Once all the required studies are done, if surgery is recommended, the outcomes are typically very good in the hands of our surgeons.
