Epilepsy and choroid plexus cysts

My son is 2-1/2 and we had 2 clean EEGs, MRI findings with lower brain volume on left compared to right with choroid plexus cysts.  Both findings are said to be benign findings.  His "seizures" are usually unwittnessed and during sleep.  Will waken with a right foot drop and loss of speech ability.  Neuro says the MRI findings don't have any true correlation to the other symptoms.  How can this be?  This is the 1st post where I have found someone with choroid plexus cysts and epilepsy.  So, now there are at least 2 of us.  There has to be more.  Help.

This discussion is related to complex partial seizures and choroid plexus cysts.

My son was born with a choroid plexus cyst and is now (8yrs) diagnosed with generalized clinic tonic epilepsy also in his sleep.  I am curious of or if there is a connection.  I was told in the hospital at his birth to expect delays or learning disabilities so I choose to homeschool him to give him an advanced start and one on one learning. The cyst resolved itself in his first year, he's doing well at homeschool but now with the epilepsy my head is spinning.  There's no other cause found.  I'm researching now and reading otherwise about the cyst and long term effects but as a mom I've just always had a bad feeling about it.  He always throws up during his seizures and has choked.  Medication is not working so far, it's scary and we aren't getting much sleep.

My daughter is almost 8 years old, she starting having seizures at the age of 2. SHe has had 5 "normal" EEG's, a normal MRI and ct scan....She was diagnosed at 3 with complex partial seizure disorder, and started on tripletal. She is still battling this, somedays the medicine helps. but other days she has anywhere from 10-25 seizure where her eye flickers, body stiffens and she is unresponsive for anywhere from 45 seconds to 2 minutes. She had a chorid plexus cyst on her neck when I was 20 weeks pregnant with her. At 30 weeks 3d ultrasound the dr. could not find the cyst, assuming it was gone!?! I just wonder if these two things are linked together. Not that it will help, but at least my mind can rest as of why my daughter battles epilepsy!!

My 1 1/2 year old has been having seizures, and also had a choroid plexus cyst finding in his MRI. He has a doctor's appointment with a pediatric neurologist this month, so I'm hoping to get some answers then. I don't know whether they're related or not, but I figured I'd let you know, there's someone else, too.

Hi,

Usually choroid plexus cysts are not associated with epilepsy.
What treatment is your child taking for seizures?
I would suggest you can take a second opinion.
