Since then I have been regularly facing seizures which are two per year and from last feb I have not got any.But I have some BIG PROBLEMS which I want to tell you:

1. Still I feel sometimes that I could fall because of seizure as I think , may be the medicine I am taking is too much in amount or these drugs are CONTROLLING my disease and not curing.
2.My GUMS ARE SWOLLEN & EVEN BLEED SOMETIMES so please subscribe be something to get rid of this problem.
3.I am Loosing my MENTAL CONCENTRATION & LISTENING ABILITY.
4. I am suffering:  MEMORY LOSS, STAMMERING & FUMBLING WHILE CONVERSING also GET ANGRY. and whenever i am excited like angry, surprised, so much happy, even scared my body starts shivering.

Thats all, Please read everything mentioned here as I have told you my problems in detail for your ease to find out true reasons.
IF THERE IS ANY CURE OF THESE SIDE-EFFECTS PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS I CAN NOT QUIT EPILEPSY MEDICINES...YOU KNOW.
For your reply, I will be very thankful to you.

My son has been on AED's (though not the same as you take) for 9 years.  Every time I take him for his dental check-up, they assure me that it is a consistent side-effect of most AED's to cause gum swelling, tenderness, and that his gums will most certainly bleed during the cleanings.  I know that just daily brushing with an extra soft toothbrush can cause mild bleeding and discomfort for him.  There's not much that can be done for that, except perhaps using a toothpaste that is made for sensitive teeth.  I think there is now an oral rinse on the market, available at pharmacies in the mouthwash section, that claims to reduce bleeding gums.

Also, my son does have a reaction when he's overly excited, angry, etc.  He doesn't shiver, but does have arm/hand flapping or he jumps in place.  I've been told that in individuals with seizures that this is neither common nor uncommon.  It just is there sometimes.

You should discuss all of these issues with your doctor.  While (s)he may not be able to 'cure' any of your issues, they can reassure you that you are not alone.

Best Wishes!

hi,you need some monitoring of phenytoin(eptoin) blood levels as valparin causes increase in blood levels of eptoin, which is responsible for gingivial hyperplasia(gum swelling).

Valparin and topirol both are associated with mental problems.

For gum swelling, best is to either reduce the dose of eptoin and maintain oral hygiene(drugs like azithromycin, isotrentoin and surgical procedures are being used for treatment)

In your case, dose adjustment based on eptoin levels will help.
