Epilim, Phenorbarbiton & Tregetol

Epilim, Phenorbarbiton & Tregetol

Hi,

I am desperate to find the right medicine for my daughter who is now 2 yrs & 3 months old. She has complex partial seizure. She is now taking Epilim, Phenorbarb and tregetol. This combo doesnt control her seizure.

We started her with phenorbarb at the age of 6 1/2 months, we added lamictal but it made it worst so we withdrew it and replace lamictal with epilim. Few months ago we added frisium on top of epilim and phenorbarb but it didnt work, we replaced frisium with trileptal.

She just had another seizure. I think trlleptal too doesnt work. Have anyone tried this combo? Pls advice....may god bless!

Hi.

Phenobarbitone is known to induce enzymes that break down Tegretol. So, the actual dose of tegretol may not be available for use.

I would like you to discuss this pint with the Neurologist. If he feels, phenobarbitone can be stopped, or Tegretol can be increased. Trileptal does not have any such problems, but clinical experience suggests that Tegretol is more effective than trileptal.
