Eptoin use for Critical Head Injury

My brother met with a major road accident in 1997 when he was 21 in which he suffered sever head injuries. He had titanium plates put in his head.

He was prescribed Eptoin to be taken for the rest of his life to prevent epileptic fits. In 2001 he stopped taking eptoin and after 3 years of stopping had epleptic fits and was admitted to the ICU. He has since then continued on Eptoin and has not had fits after that.

He is getting married soon and wanted to know if he can ever stop taking eptoin? Also will taking eptoin have effects on babies he has with his wife?

Hello.

Eptoin will have to be continued for effective seizure prevention. He is getting married. This will increase stress and there are chances that he may have a seizure if he is not taking Eptoin.

The medicine will not affect the children.
