Extremely High Fever

Extremely High Fever

Hi,

I hope someone knows the answer to this...

When I was three, I had a fever of 108.4 going into surgery for a severe salivary gland infection. The fever was quickly reduced (within just a few minutes) to much safer levels.

Right now (age 28), I'm having some neurological issues and my neurologist thinks I may have MS. My brain MRI showed fourteen small lesions. Anyway, my question is this:

What kind of damage could a high fever do to the brain? How would it show on an MRI - white spots or black spots, atrophy or shrinkage or what?

I'm just wondering if the two could be related at all or not. I didn't think of the fever until my after my last neuro appointment.  I plan on asking her at my next appointment, but thought I would ask you all first :-)

Thanks for the help!

Robin

Robin, what are your neurological issues? Lyme Disease and Migraines are also associated with brain lesions.
