Face and neck pain

Hi,

My mom started suffering from an acute face (right side) and neck pain about 2 weeks ago.  She went to the hospital and they gave her some painkillers and injections.  They performed a CT scan on her and some blood tests, all of which turned out to be normal.  Today she had other blood test done (EBvirus, Herpes Zoster) but the results are not in yet.  The only thing that is a little "abnormal" for her, is that her hemoglobin was over 15.  She also has Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Does anyone know of a condition, or a treatment for symptoms like these ones? Thank you!

Two years ago I started having acute pain on my right side of my face. I wasn't sure if it was tooth ache, sinus or what ever, except the pain was incredible and would not go away unless I took strong pain relief. I had an MRI scan which indicated nothing,blood tests indicated nothing,I saw a dental specialist who made a bite guard appliance.

I decided to go to my Osteopath and although it took nine 3o minute sessions, he sorted me out. The problem, my muscle down the right side of my face had gone into spasam. As I had not been able to clear it up for 10 months prior to seeing him, it was also putting my jaw out of alignment with the left side. He manipulated,massaged and stopped the spasms of this muscle,which incidently is the strongest muscle in a female.
I occassionally get small spasms and it is almost generally when I'm concerned about something and perhaps slightly stressed. When I use the word stressed I'm talking normal day to day concerns that need attention and at times take a while to sort out.

My advice,ditch all the tests,MRI scans etc and find a great Osteopath who can massage the muscles and re align the jaw. Its the best choice I made.

Hello.

The increased level of hemoglobin could suggest polycythemia or dehydration. There is no evidence that rheumatoid arthritis is associated with polycythemia, but these two conditions may co-exist.

Polycythemia leads to high blood pressure, which in turn can cause the pain in face and the neck.

Does she have any problems with the neck? Was there any complaint related to neck previously? When you do you expect to get the blood reports back?
