Facial Numbness and Tingling

I am not sure if this is the correct category.  I have been experiencing over the past several months numbness and tingling in my face. While it started as only occassionally, it is now occuring on a daily basis, although not all day, with increasing duration.  It primarily occurs on my left side but does extend across my forehead.  I have no pain or headache with symptoms.  I am a 38 years female, on no medications whatsover, not under any undue stress, good bp, heart rate, etc., slightly overweight, but otherwise completely healthy.  Any ideas what this may be or who I should see?

I too suffer from facial numbness known as Trigeminal neuralgia( the R. side of my face tingles, mynose lip and teeth go numb, too. In addition, I have Cervicogenic Headaches and Occipital neuralgia, Debilitating Pain that radiates from the base of my skull, to my forehead and behind my R. eye. I need a surgery called Occipital Nerve Decompression, featured on "Good Morning America", but not covered by my Insurance. I'm trying to spread awareness to help others and hopefully fund more research/clinical trials. Lyrica, is a medication that helps with nerve pain, but I Crave Sweets and have gained 20 lbs!! I also, take, Cymbalta and Ultram. Best wishes for you, DW

I experienced the same thing after some dental work, except mine spread to my arms, hands, feet and lower legs and I'm still delaing with it 6 weeks later. I was diagnosed with Myofascia pain dysfunction syndrome in my face. It has to do with the muscles of mastication and the other muscles in your face. I was diagnosed by an Oral Surgeon. Most primary doctors don't know about this particular syndrome because it is a mucoskeletal problem.  Physical Therapy helped very much. As long as you are not having any other symptoms, I would go see your dentist or Oral Surgeon.  I am a dental hygienist so I know a little bit about this stuff.
