Facial Tingling - Really Scared!!

I am a 35 yo female in very good health except for the following:  Cyst in maxillary sinus, TMJ, bulging disk in my neck, and herniated disk in my low back.  For the past 4-6 months I have experienced facial sensations, like a tingling - mostly in my left side (near mouth, jaw, and a little on my cheek).  This comes and goes and happens maybe a couple of times a day for maybe a minute (maximum) at a time.  My ENT said he doesn't feel anything is wrong (he doesn't think it is my TMJ, but I am not sure why not), but for "peace of mind" he is sending me to get an MRI of my head and brain.  I am really scared that it is something serious.  I am going tomorrow for the MRI and I am so nervous about what they might see in there.  Are there any less serious conditions that could cause the facial tingling?  Please help!

My pain doc says that the disk problem could also cause the facial tingling, because sometimes there starts to get inflammation around the injured disk and then this causes the muscle to tighten, pressure on the nerve causing these weird sensations. Maybe thats why the xanax helps mine, because it has mild relaxants in it.  Sorry, hope everything goes great with your MRI.

I have had TMJ for many years and have some pain from that.  My tingling is mostly on the left side, but carries over to the right a little by the mouth and nose.  I do have anxiety issues too, but the Xanax didn't seem to do anything for the tingling. Thanks for your help!

I have facial tingling, I have had it for 6 years.  My brain MRI is normal, I do have a bulging disk at C-3, C-4, just found this out last month.  Doc thinks that the tingling is from migraines.  I have a history of migraines, and sometimes I guess you can have other symptoms of the migraine and not the actual headache.  I think I posted somewhere on another healthboard one time about TMJ and facial tingling and a lot of people responded and said that they have the tingling with their TMJ.  Do you have ear pain as well?  Is it unilateral or bilateral. Mine started out as left sided, now just this year, its on both sides on my cheeks.  Could it be anxiety related?  Thats what they tell me, either migraines or anxiety.  Sorry I couldn't help that much.  I take a 1/2 xanax and it helps a reasonable amount.  Hope this helps some!!!
