Fingertips are numb and prickly

Fingertips are numb and prickly

I am a diabetic and a few weeks ago I started getting numb fingertips and they itch sometimes when they feel prickly. but not all the feeling is in them, this is a constant the past few weeks. The only relief I get is at night when I rest them on my belly.

It sounds very much like Peripheral neuropathy.  It is common with Diabetics.  It is caused by the breakdown and destruction of the nerve covering called myalin (not sure of spelling).  It can cause various kinds of pain ( itching, burning, sharp, etc) and there are different drugs to help with pain.  I take neurontin.  There are also some treatments to some what repair the loss of feeling.  I don't know much about them.  It is important that your doctor monitors this, so tell them about it. There are some good research sites and you should inform yourself.
