Fluid at the base of the skull

Fluid at the base of the skull

I have a friend who is diagnosed (several years) with Fibromyalgia.  She recently had an endoscopy procedure, came home (I was designated to watch her due to the drugs would cause temporary amnesia) and was suffering neck pain that she placed a pack of ice on and slept for a couple hours.  I helped her when she awoke with some breathing excercises, laying on her back and stretching the neck muscles out.   This lasted about 45 minutes.  When I got to the base of her skull (I picked up her neck and messaged the base) it appeared to be mushy with excess fluid to me.  I checked my neck, and felt pretty sure that she had an extra 'something' there.   She told me that her headaches have been coming and going for about 2 years (she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia for 16 years now).  The headaches are migraine like in her words.

Could this fluid at the base of her skull be related to her Fibromyalgia?

Hi...I do not think it would be from fibro and suggest she contact her Dr ASAP to have it looked at and evaluated.

Please post an update

Thank you selmaS,
My friend promised me she would contact her Neurologist soon (who I hope encourages her to come in for a check).  I'll post a follow up.
