I fell fracturing my
coccyxTailbone (coccyx)
Tailbone trauma in a few places. My doctor indicated this should resolve in 6-8 weeks, but it's been 10 now and, even though better, I can't sit without a special pillow nor can I walk on the treadmill longer than about 10 minutes. It feels as if something is in me cutting and burning after exercion or after sitting on it for more than 45 minutes.
I am back to work, but am up and down. My question is:
How long should I wait to make a decision to get the
coccyxTailbone (coccyx)
Tailbone trauma cutCuts and puncture wounds off? Has it made the maxiumum improvement it can already? The XRay shows it to be
brokenBroken bone
Broken or knocked out tooth in a few places....
If it can't get better, I want to get the surgery now as my health insurance plan isn't quite so good next year.

Thanks for the comments.

I believe I blanked out, collapsed and crashed my tail bone against the edge of a pool just before falling in.
This was Monday May 29, 2000.
I'm a 53 year old male finding it very difficult to sit down, get up, and don't dare cough but to the pain level.
The treatment I am receiving is Ultrasound and on/off with the ice pack. I don't feel any better from treatment yet, but I suppose time will tell.
Is there any type of relief for this condition?
I don't think I'll go this for a year. I have to drive considerably just to feed my family so the option of changing occupations isn't there.
What relief or other treatment is available?
Ken
Longing to sit again in RI!
I'm very worried about her?
When I fell and broke my tail bone, I sat on pillows and was in such pain when I had to drive any distance. I had a baby about 20 months later and as she was being born - I told the Doctor - the baby just put my tail bone in place. It was great and hasn't bothered me since. Good luck with your children!
I fractured my tailbone back in 1991. Was also dislocated. 6 years later they told me about the fracture and that the two last segments must be removed. In 1997 they removed the two fractured pieces telling me that since it has been soo long that it probably wouldnt take my pain away, but they needed to be removed. The surgean told me that the pieces should have been removed within 2 years of the injury, and possibly I might have recovered.
I now have a Tens unit implanted in me to control my pain, which is placed right next to my coccyx. The lead just doesnt want to stay in place because of the area. They have opened me up 3 times now, and I am recovering, and my stimulator still doesnt work.
My question is in your opionion, if they would have removed the broken pieces in time, do you think I might have recovered?
PLEASE respond to me @ skleck@easy-pages.com.
This is very important to me to know.
