Frequent Urination/Neurology

I have been urinating 10-15 times a day for over a 5 years now. Frequent but short visits, little amount. I have seen a urologist and he said that everything seems so normal, he detected no problem. he could not diagnose the problem. he assumed that I might have problem with the nerves. But  I am not sure whether i should see a neurologist, I do not know much about who does what? is it possible that this frequent visits can be looked at from the point of view of neurologist?

thanks

Hi Lemet. The exact same thing went on with my 7 year old son in october of last year. He was urinating sometime twice in an hour, which of course was very disruptive at school, as Im sureit is in your life. We took him to the Urologist who ran some tests on him to make sure he didnt have any kind of blockadge or infection. His condition was diagnosed as spastice bladder or Frequent Urinary Syndrome. The doc told me it could be related to stree and or aniexty. She also recommend that me son see a Neurologust or other doctor specializing in that area if it continued for a long period of time. Fortunately it got better for him after about 4 months. I would definately recommend you see another doctor, Neurologist since your symptoms have been chronic.

Hi there.

It is perfectly reasonable to have a voiding problem to be evaluated by a neurologist, especially if the urologic evaluation turns out normal (prostate and bladder are structurally normal).  Sometimes, autonomic problems (especially with the nerves innervating the bladder) can cause these frequent urination. Autonomic problems can arise from a primary neurologic condition, or  spinal compression problems.  There is also a condition called "spastic" bladder where the bladder cannot hold on much urine and discharges at very low urine volume.  This is also a neurologic problem.  I agree with a neurologic consult.  Regards and God bless...
