General Question re: Laughter

General Question re: Laughter

: : I feel like a nut asking this, but wondered.  When I laugh hard, really hard,
: : I seem to lose strength in my arms.  If I am holding something I drop it, if
: : someone is tickling me and I am struggling to stop them, I can no longer do so.
: : I'm sure this is probably something normal, but what might cause it?
: : I know you all LOVE me asking these fun questions!  :-)  Toodles and Thanx!
  : Dear Lee:
: When we laugh very hard for a period of time, we decrease our oxygen content as usually we fail to breath during the laughter, and then only briefly until the next binge of laughter occurs.  So, we get out of breathe.  Since (I am assuming that you have MS since the category is MS) you have MS, your reserve is decreased, and mild strength loss would not be uncommon.  As all of our organs, both the muscles and the controller of the muscles (the brain) need oxygen and when there isn't enough, the muscle would weaken in strengh.  If you don't have MS, this still could occur, it would depend on how only you laughed for and the intensity of the laugh.  I hope that this helps.
  : Sincerely,
