Gluten intolerance & neuro disorders

by vanvechten, Sep 02, 2009 05:28PM
After one "quick" EMG by a local MS doctor and then another longer one at a well-known university, the doctor told me that my EMG is clean and to return in 6 months.
Family doctor is wondering about gluten intolerance and has asked that I go "gluten-free" for one week. I will.  However, my symptoms are as follows: one year ago with clonus-like jerking; subsided with colanezepam; immense weaknesss/fatigue in both legs and left arm and wrist; imbalance; hoarseness; internal twitching on legs (calves esp.;shoulders,arms.)  Profound difficulty in swallowing saliva.
Some jerking returning.
Are my ALS worries COMPLETELY over? I am female, 52.  Any credence to gluten causing this many neuro symptoms?  Many thanks.
