Hello Terry!

Panic disorder is a well defined problem in which a person suffres episodic attacks of a feeling of terrible doom, often accompanied by pounding heart, hyperventilation, sweating, and full blown panic. The attacks happen randomly without warning, and often cause the affected patient to start avoiding specific places or circumstances in which each individual attack occurred, which in its most extreme form can cause a condition called agorophobia, where the patient is afraid to leave home for fear of an embarassing panic attack occurring. Constant symptoms of panic attacks indicate a generalized anxiety or other psychiatric disorder. Photophobia is not a symptom of panic attack. Lightheadedness is an entirely nonspecific symptom that does not aid in the diagnosis of any neurological or psychiatric disorder unless it is accompanied by other more specific symptoms or signs. Photophobia can be a sign of migraines, meningitis, or certain eye disorders.
