My son,now 17 , had an anoxic brain injury 9 yrs ago. He has been on baclofen 10 mg 3 x a day for several years (he was on 20 mg at one time about 5 yrs ago, but it made him too sedated). His tone & clonusRestless leg syndrome have increased in his legs, especially at night and early am . I am concerned about increasing his baclofen due to it causing muscle weaknessWeakness in his upper body, which is very strong & functional (he even takes Karate ! ). I am also concerned about decreased alertness with an increased dose. What are our other options to help decrease th tone & clonusRestless leg syndrome?
Also, he receives PTPost-traumatic stress disorder once a week....he lifts weights and does exercises to increase upper bocy strength and stands and takes some swing through steps with the walker with 2 max asssisstance. Is there anything else we should be doing to help his legs? He cannot balance himself to stand alone. Is it possible this can still inprove so that he could possibly walk again? Is there a rehab facility or clinic or doctor that might benefit him? Thank You & God Bless You for sharing your knowledge & experience.
