Have I been correctly diagnosed?

In November, 1998 I noticed that my right hand would periodically tremor.  In December I came down with a bad case of sinusitus.  Over the past four  months, my health has continued to decline.  My hands continue to periodically tremor, I have been treated twice with a 10-day course of antibiotics by my G.P. for the sinus infection (which I still have), I often feel like there is a motor running in my upper body (like your hands are tightly grasped on a steering wheel of a running car) and this causes the muscles in my lips to feel like they are twitching, my eyes seem to be blurry and dry, my hands and feet periodically tingle, and most recently, I have been experiencing muscle twitches in my thighs, arms, and upper back as well as sore muscles. My left arm has also been sore at the elbow for three months.  Two G.P.s told me they thought I was experiencing anxiety and put me on Zanax. They did a complete blood test including and ANA and complete thyroid profile. Nothing was found.  Finally, I got my GP to refer my to a Neurologist.  The neurologist had a brain and cervical MRI done and gave me a complete physical exam.  He said that I had a Benign Essential Tremor and that he did not know why I was having the muscle twitches and "motor running" feeling.  He put me on Inderel and explained that I would probably need to learn to live with the symptoms.  He said to come back in 6 months.
I am not so worried about the tremor- the medication seems to be helping that, but the muscle twitches, motor running feeling, and the sore muscles/bones scare me that there is something seriously wrong that has not been looked into. Should I accept what the Neurologist has said?  My husband tells me to trust my doctor, but I can't help but feel that with these symptoms I should be continuing to figure out what is wrong with me.

I would agree with your neurologist that you probably do have benign essential tremor, the response to Inderal strongly supports this, and I have encountered this "motor running' feeling as part of the picture of the tremor, it seems to  a sort of internal awareness of the tremor which is occassionally reported.
The muscle twitches and soreness which you describe, however, are not a typical part of the picture of benign essential tremor.
While this is not a serious symptom unless it is associated with steadily progressive weakness, it would be best to have it checked out by means of an EMG, which would outrule any serious underlying cause for the problem.
