Thanks Dr. Sharma. I'm not aware of anyone in my family experiencing tremors like this, and my voice doesn't experience these issues. My grandfather does have Parkinson's but it developed in his 70's.
Hi there. Familial tremor is an essential tremor occurring in more than one family member, passed down through families usually as dominant trait. Shaking involves small, rapid movements, head nodding, shaking or quivering of voice if larynx is involved, difficulty in writing, etc. These are usually intention tremors and other causes which need ruling out is alcohol withdrawal, hyperthyroidism, and etc. Treatment would include medicines like propranolol, which blocks adrenaline related neurotransmitters, and primidone which is an antiseizure drug. Consult your neurologist for the indication of therapy and the relevant treatment should be given if indicated. Take care.
