Head and Neck Disturbance

Head and Neck Disturbance

I am a female 60 years old in general good health and a reasonable size.
For the past 6 weeks I have been having the following symptoms:

Stiff neck
numbness and tingling in a band across the lower back of my head, my forehead, beside my eyes, and around my mouth
tinnitus that changes place, intensity, and sound and disappears about every 5 or 6 days
pain in front of the ear and behind the ear
heavy head
painful jaw
dizziness when I turn my head around, up and down or when I lean over to tie a shoe...
Occasional, brief, specifically located sharp pain in my head that quickly disappears
frequent sore throat and sometimes huskiness
sore eyes
occasional fullness in ears

Symptoms perhaps not related:

Mottled, red lower right leg on one side only...no pain, no swelling after shower
And, just tonight, someone noticed and then I noticed that the edge of my nose across from each eye is black as if bruised

I have had a CT scan and it came back normal
I've also had a broad array of  blood tests and they are normal except for high chlorestorel both bad and good

Hope you can help.

Check your blood pressure and see if there is any cranial nerve weakness. Tell your neurologist to check your facial nerve and also correlate your symptoms accordingly.
Weight control and exercise is recommeded for you with a proper diet, low in cholesterol and a balanced diet. Take care!

I am not sure you read these posts.  However, if you do, this is another thank you.  I check my blood pressure each year...last time 9 mos. ago.  It has always been between 111 and 118.  After your advice, I checked it at the grocery store, then 5 hours later again, and the next morning again.  The average of the three readings was 164 over 83 with a pulse of 77.  So, I guess I'm going to a general physician. (A different one)

Now...why would it spike like that?

If you can, do you mind responding?

Judith

This shows that your Systolic Blood Pressure has increased but your Diastolic or the lower is perfect.
You should not check Blood Pressures after walking to the grocery store or after working out/walking etc as the Blood Pressure will increase. Best time is in the morning after no physical exercise, if you go to a doctor make sure you sit for a good 30 minutes before you check your blood pressure which will come perfect. For your age 160/80 is just borderline and is not very high.
The reason for such increase in 9 months should be correlated by the neurologist and your symptoms should also be correlated.  I advise you to have balanced diet, salt restricted diet, no smoking and no alcohol. Take care!

Dear Dr. Vinod,

Thank you once more for your response.  I was shocked by the blood pressure results and you calmed the reaction! (Although it would have been nice to have a cause for all that is bothering me) You are really a wonderful person for taking time to respond to all these nervous email writers....especially at such an early hour of the morning.  I won't bother you again unless, by some miracle, I get better.
