Head pain

by pcacef, Jun 09, 2008 06:29PM
I was reading a thread on head pain.  A week ago, I began having a sharp stabbing pain just above the back of my hear on the rear left side of my head.  Every thread I read regarding this pain had no diagnosis.  Has anyone figured out the cause?  I am scheduled to have an MRI, but if it has been normal for everyone else, is there a need for an MRI?

This discussion is related to Head pain - need diagnosis.

Hi there.

Unfortunately, there are really a lot of happenings in the human body that cannot be fully explained.  More often, pains like these will be diagnosed by doctors as some sort of a pain syndrome, which really means that no obvious cause can be seen or determined.  Most of these pains are caused or related to stress, and this is most commonly overlooked.  Your doctor will be the best judge if an MRI or other tests are necessary, since from his or her physical examinations alone, he may be able to have clues regarding the etiology.

For most people, adequate rest and winding down from stress will really help lessen the pain.

Regards and God bless.
