Headache, Nausea, Dizziness

by Maksmom1130, Nov 18, 2007 09:01PM
First a little history......I had seizures as a child, none since age 3.  I have, in the past, had one episode where i had extreme headache, dizziness, nausea, loss of feeling in legs, and partial paralysis of left side of my face....this was attributed to the flu vaccine i got, by the er doc who saw me.  During my pregnancy I discovered a tiny red spot on my foot.....throughout pregnancy it grew.  it was a hemangioma and i had it removed.  Ever since my pregnancy, i get spider angiomas on my hands, and legs, sometimes on my face.  I recently had an MRI and it showed a small venous angioma in my right frontal lobe.  I got the MRI because of headaches (sharp and pulsing), dizziness, nausea, and a feeling of pressure against my eye.  I also, for years, have had the tendency to lose my balance very easily.  The information i have read about venous angiomas is very confusing and contradictory......even neurologists and neurosurgeons disagree about symptoms...so many people who have this also have headaches, dizziness and nausea....some say it is congenital, some say they can be spontaneous........i would like to know if any of  my problems could all be related to each other and the angioma, and if i need to be aware of any limitations in physical activity....(my headache gets worse with running and weight lifting).  Do i need to be careful about medications i take, and are there certain symptoms i should look out for.  do i need to closely monitor this with followup mri's....should my doctor be looking for a cavernous angioma in relation to this and if so, what study will best highlight it.  are there any current studies being done on this little known and disagreed upon condition?  HELP

Hi,
True venous malformations are normal variants of brain venous drainage that almost never produce symptoms. Cavernous angiomas, by contrast, are abnormal blood vessels resmbling large thin walled veins called "sinuses" (different than the ones you breath through) and may cause symptoms either by pressing on parts of the brain, bleeding into the brain, or causing seizures, depending on how big the malformation is and where it is located.
Do a blood work.Have all your routine lab investigations done.In many cases there has been hi-fi and latest investigations been done while a few basic tests were forgotten and eventually those results proved to be vital for the diagnosis and treatment ,so never miss out on a few basic tests.Check for diabetes. If work aggrevates pain,it could be due tumor ,repeat an MRI
Consult a Neurophysician,he will throw more light on your problems.
Goodluck.
