Headache and confusion

I have been a lucky person to have only a couple of minor headaches a year. For the past 1-2 months, I've had a headache everyday. They are getting more intense and do not get better after taking motrin, tylenol, aspirin or aleve (not at the same time or in the same day). I have ringing in the ears that is not getting better. I have got word finding difficulties during the headache. Short term memory is affected also. I find myself sitting at my desk wondering what the heck I was doing and my attention span is very short. I haven't had any head injuries. No significant health problems other than mild hypertension treated with Avalide. My potassium was low (I think due to the HCTZ in the Avalide). I don't drink, smoke or take any recreational drugs. I saw a neurologist, who says the MRI is normal, EEG is not (temporal lobe irregularities). He's on vacation...I'm traveling alot and can't see him for another 2 weeks. Is this a problem I need to see someone about before then?

That's what I thought too. Everything tastes like rubber bands or metal. It's wierd. I have to double check all my emails because the words I write are different from what I think I am writing. I don't have the anger, but am frustrated more than anything. I feel more like I'm floating and "other-worldly" to make it a little plainer. Thank you for your advice and I will follow it.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
A temporal lobe abnormality on EEG indicates seizure activity which can be due to temporal lobe epilepsy. The symptoms felt by the patient include abnormal sensations like a feeling of déjà vu, loss of short term memory or amnesia. Other sensations could be abnormal taste sensations, abnormal sounds and smell, feelings of fear, nervousness and anger.
These symptoms last for few minutes to an hr. I would suggest you to see a neurologist as early as possible. It would be great if you can prepone the appointment since this possibility is quite strong in your case as of now, however nothing can be said for sure without clinical exam.
