Headache that never ends

I know that this may sound crazy but about a month ago I got a really bad headache and 2 days after my headache came on I was laying on the couch and develop severe left side numbness and weakness. My face became drawn to the left and my speech slurred. I am a 27-year old female with high blood pressure it was 199/118 at ER, and diabetes.  They have done many test such as ekg's, spinal tap, caratoid artery & renal artery doppler, ct of my brain and a chest x-ray.  Allcame back normal. They did a MRI of my brain and it states that there is a 4 mm mass of white matter in the left inferior anterior parietal lobe.  They say that all of my blood work appears normal also. I still yet to this day have a headache, some days is worse than others.  I have to sleep most nights with an ice pack directly on top of my head.  I have finally after about 2 weeks got use of my arm and leg except my arm burns in my muscles in it when I use it and my leg is still weak and sometimes goes numb.  Everyone is wanting to relate it back to my spine(i have had 2 spinal fusions and still have about 5-6 discs that are messed up in my back) but they spinal surgeon does not want to do anything until he figures out what is going on with my head. I just had a normal EEG that was recorded during wakefulness and drowsiness.  And also my doctor just had me wear a heart holter monitor in which he discuss my heart had severe palpitations that he has now placed me on a new medication for.

I have had several episodes lasting up to 2 weeks of daily
migraine.  I could not avoid them or get rid of them, they lasted
all day.  Upped my daily dose of SSRI and they went away in one
day.  Hope this helps someone.

I just had an MRI last night and my PCP called this morning totell me that there was a 10 millimeter spot in my right parietal lobe. They attributed it to migraines. Well, I've been having this recurrent headache for 3 months, but have had double vision everyday for 6 years. I was just wonderin if you had heard anything new regarding your diagnosis.

Hi. I just read your post, and I can relate with the headaches. After I gave birth to my son I started getting migraines EVERYDAY. Turns out it was all part of post-partum depression. I am now on anti-depressants and no longer get them.  I was originally told that the headaches were stress headaches and the doc put me on meds for migraines which didn't work. Best of luck to you. I hope you find the answers you seek.

Hi,
I too have MS and the worst headaches ever that went down my neck, shoulders, back.  My neurology suggested I try taking Vitamin B2 100 mg 2X day.  Well, this seemed to easy having dealt with headaches for years.  The darn stuff worked.  I looked it up and it is used to treat people with MS, headaches, and other problems.  Give it a try.  It's water soluable so it won't bother your liver.  What your body doesn't use is flushed out in your urine.  I'm telling you it has helped me so much.  I do notice if I am late taking it.  The headache wants to kick up.  But I swear at leat give it a try.
I hope this helpful to you.  Of course I've being telling a lot of friends about this a couple have tried it and it has helped them.
Best wishes

No, it isn't anxiety.  I am on an antidepressant and something for anxiety.  I have been on stuff for about 1 year for that.  Thanks though.

forgot to mention - it could also be generalized anxiety. maybe you could ask you doctor for a 10 day prescription of ativan (anti-anxiety medication), for example, to see if the headache goes away.

it may be some sort of seizure or perhaps a transient ischemic attack.

They said that it looks related to mirgraines is all that want to say.  Not really sure.  I go to Winston Salem on Friday July 13 to the teaching hospital there.  Maybe they will figure out something.  I know it is hard being a mom and having major medical issues especially with children ages 5,3, and 1.  My five year old just had to have her nose repaired because it got broke when a drunk driver hit her and my middle one has seizures.  I have my hands full.

What did the drs say about your MRI results?

It's not easy to be a mom and feel like that, is it?  Mom's aren't supposed to get sick.

Hope you are having a good day.
