Headaches and arm, hand, and finger pain.

by TCoult, Aug 11, 2008 07:06AM
I have been suffering from severe headaches for more than a year now. My primary doc sent me for CT and they found that I have the beginning of disc degernative disease (cervical). I am 40 years old. I also have two bulging dics. From there I went to a pain management doctor and put on a lot of medicine. I also had two injections in my neck. I had so much pain after the second one the doctor would not do the third one he had planned. From there I went to a chiroprator, it helped for a while for the neck pain but the headaches continue. Sometimes severe and lasting 3 weeks. No one would tell me for sure if the neck problems were causing the headaches. Then one day at work, I had one of the very bad headaches. I became very confused and could not walk straight. My words then became slurred and my vision blurry. People at work who were trying to help made me nervous and I think I had some sort of panic attack. My husband picked me up from work and took me to my primary. They ordered an MRI and I finally got the appointment with the nerologist I had been trying to see for months. The MRI showed that I had had 4 mini strokes at one point in time. It also showed that some of those headaches were migraines. I finally found a medication to help with the migraines and I take one asprin a day and see the Nerologist every two months. He also sent me to physical therapy for my neck problems. My insurance would only allow 12 visits. But I still get those instense headaches in the back of my skull and down my neck. These headaches are daily and are starting to affect my home and work life. I just started a new job after being layed off, so calling in sick is really not an option, but sometimes I feel like I have just got to get up and walk out of the office and never return. I just want to go home and go to bed. Now something new started this weekend. Both arms are hurting so bad, especially around the elbow. And my hands ach so bad. It hurts to make a fist in both hands. I also had sharp buring pain up and down my right leg yesterday. I did not sleep at all last night, because my arms were hurting so bad and I could not get comfortable. This morning the pain is only in my left arm, but so achy. My fingers are now starting to hurt with the typing I am now doing. I have called in sick at my new job. I just could not go in and type all day in front of a computer. Anyway any advise you could give as to where to go from here would be greatly appreciated.
