Heat symptoms

Heat symptoms

For the past month, I've had radiating heat/burning sensation that affects different areas: my buttocks (feels like a seat heater), lower abdomen, groin area (hip flexors) and upper thighs. It does not happen all the time, but frequently throughout the day.  It seems worse at the end of the day. I was recently diagnosed and am being treated for breast cancer, which I don't think is related because these sensations primarily started one week after my lumpectomy surgery, but the Doctors think it could be stress related.  One item of note: Before I even knew about the breast cancer, there was one day where my left buttock felt a heat sensation; I then felt no symptoms again until one week after the breast surgery. I am 40 and in otherwise good shape (work out regularly, normal weight, etc.).  Oh - over the past year, I've woken up sweating a few times; Could be early menopause - but the Doctors didn't think so.

Hi there. These symptoms could be part of complex regional pain syndrome, which could be due to damage to nervous system including nerves that control blood vessels and sweat glands. The damaged nerves cannot control blood flow, feeling, and temperature in the affected area leading to medical problems in blood vessels, bones, muscles, nerves, and skin, due to direct injury to a nerve or injury or infection in an arm. Rarely a heart attack can cause this and sometimes it can appear without obvious injury to the affected limb. The main symptoms are intense and burning pain stronger than expected for the type of injury. There may be change in skin temperature switching between warm and cold.  you might need to undergo a test to show temperature changes and lack of blood supply in the affected limb known as thermography, bone scan, nerve conduction study etc. consult a pain physician along with a neurologist for more understanding and management. You need to rule out degenerative disc disease. Take care.
