Reflex sympathetic dystrophy is a syndrome sometimes seen after injury to a peripheral nerve, most often after traumatic injury to the nerve. It is very poorly defined even by the alleged "experts" in its treatment. Treatments include various medications and sympathetic nerve blocks, which generally have limited success at best. There is no scientific reserach being performed on the particular problem of upper extremity sweating in connection with the sydrome (or its many alternative names) that I am aware of.
