Good afternoon,
My name is Michael Lau, a chinese living in the Philippines. My mother is now in a family crisis... she is 70 years old, chinese and my relatives in Taiwan is saying I should get help from various hospitals. her current condition is that last Friday (Oct. 3, 2014) she collapsed during hosting an event for her work. She has been having breast cancer for half a year or more and has finished her chemotherapy treatment... last Friday she had her first drip and treatment for a drug called Herceptin for her breast cancer. but later that night at the event she hosted, she fell to the ground when sitting down after a speech and rushed to the hospital. as reported, her pulse was very low during her 20 or more minutes travel time to the hospital emergency room. when she arrived doctors reported that she flat lined and revived her through CPR and probably defribilation... I am her son... I arrived when she was in the ICU (intensive care unit) of the department. she was having seizures every 5 or more minutes interval and tubes were put in her mouth for oxygen I think and urine pouch, and other life support methods... the seizures were very often... so the doctors gave her medicine (I think insulin and medazopam)... her potassium levels were low and sugar levels very high as reported... it has been 1 week or more and she has not waken up. doctors reported brain injury for the lack of oxygen and blood to the brain during the travel time to the hospital from where she collapsed... I was hoping if any of the doctors in your hospital could help in this emergency happening now. I am very thankful for any response or solutions that can be provided by your good hospital at the moment. Maybe you can help more or second opinion on the current situation along with the doctors here in the Philippines. We are now located at the Medical City located at Ortigas area of Metro Manila Philippines and my mother is still in the ICU department, she was supposed to be transferred to the telemetry department but she had seizures again when the medication was stopped temporarily and a sudden infection in the port a cath installed in her chest (removed after... through surgery) so the transfer was put on hold. She was breathing normally on her own last week but now is back on machine ventilator, our family is very worried and I am also worried about my dad... my relatives from Taiwan has arrived recently and currently in the hospital as well... we are living in the hospital for the mean time in a hostel... we would be very happy if it would be possible to have an open conversation with your hospital/doctors regarding the issue and get your opinions and help with the matter. Thank you.
Thank you again.
warmest regards,
Michael Lau and the Lau Family.
