Help with TD

This question is regarding Tardive Dyskenisia. I have had TD symptoms for about 21/2yrs. my psychiatrist has me on low doses Seroquel right nowfor Bi-polar II. I have also taken Risperdal for several yrs. Do you know of any medication that will help with my TD?

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

First & foremost, your treating doctor may suggest lowest effective dose of the drug that you are taking for bipolar disorder to prevent tardive dyskinesia. However, if tardive dyskinesia has been diagnosed then the causative medicine should be reduced or discontinued, if possible. Tapering the dose will surely help in regaining normal body functions fast. In addition, sometimes dopamine lowering drugs has been also prescribed by your doctor to effectively treat tardive dyskinesia, if symptoms are uncontrolled.
