Hiccups

Since I was about 13, I have always hiccuped once or twice after earing a meal.  A couple of years ago I had gastric bypass and lost 130 lbs.  Now when I hiccup after a meal it can mean 2-10 hiccups before it stops.  Why has this gotten worse? Honestly, I was hoping that by losing weight I would have fewer hiccups, not more frequent and longer lasting.  Thank you for your help.

i have the oddest hiccups of anyone i know. they are bad. i am told i sound like a loud bird. no rhyme or reason to when i have them. not really after eating or drinking or activity. they are loud and hurt sometimes.i have taken prilosec for acid reflux type problems for a while and that really didn't help. did slow them down some but once i stopped taking the meds they came back. i can't hold my breath, i'll pass out. most of the time i don't know wheni am going to do it, sometimes i can feel it coming. i hopefully will soon br getting married and starting a family. my mom has barrett's esopugas (sp) diease. i am wanting more info on this subject and also if it can be passed to any kids i may have. thank you for any advice.

this probably sounds cheesy (it did 2 me when i first about it), my friend told me that drinking pickle juice every time u get the hiccups stops them.  i tried it and it worked 4 me.

Hiccups are caused by muscle reflex when swallowing, and by swallowing air. Tyr eating slower. Lots of people swallow air and don't realize this. There is a medication for hiccups if they last over a day, but you don't sound like this happens. Annoying, but not life threatening. LOL  Good luck, sometimes it's the little things that bother us the most. Congrats on your weight loss!
