High Prolactin

High Prolactin

My prolactin levels are elevated.  I am diabetic... and for 5 years after my son was born I was lactating until I began birth control.  I went off birth control for 4 weeks to take the most recent blood test that my endocrinologist ordered.  She has called me today to say I need an MRI.

Any experience with this type of thing, please comment.

One of my close friends (never been pregnant though) began lactating a bit, and was found that she had elevated Prolactin levels.. after much testing and many doctors it was discovered, by MRI, a small lesion on her pituitary gland. The lesion was relatively small and she is being treated with medication.

Hope you find out something soon!
