Hot, red ear?

anytime in the day I get this, sometimes more than once each day. My left ear gets very hot, and red. I have no pain but it is very annoying. It only happens to one ear at a time, usually the left one. Do you know what is causing this? How can I fix it? I am 17 years old, a female, and healthy.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Red hot ears are usually seen in people prone to migraines or headaches. This condition is believed to be due to dysregulated blood flow to that area mainly nerve related.
Since you do not have any pain polychondritis or pain due to cartilage inflammation can be ruled out.
Hope this answers your question!
