: I greatly appreciate your feedback on C-2 blocks. Do the neuro docs at the clinic do their own blocks? Risk wise, I have read any block made above T-5 puts you at a higher risk for temporary ventilator support. Also do the neurologists work hand-in-hand with the pain clinic or would I have to go through those docs as a new patient? Last thing, have you heard of Maxalt yet, what is it?      Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to answer my questions, it is very helpful.                    -Kristine

I think only one of the neurology staff doctors does occipital nerve blocks.
The pain anesthesia clinic does most of the nerve blocks and you would be referred to them if
a block was deemed necessary. The phrenic nerve that controls respiration comes off from
C 3,4,5. The risk with a superficial injection to the muscle would be very low in terms of affecting
respiration but you would need to ask specific risk questions to whoever does the block.
