Hi there.

Gliomas are benign brain tumors.  The problem is, the symptoms that you are getting from this glioma as well as the seriousness on the situation will depend on the size and the location.  A small glioma in the cerebral cortex may not cause much symptoms.  However, the brain stem is a very small and tight structure in the brain, that even small lesions can cause symptoms and may indeed be a cause of concern.  I suggest that you discus with your doctors about additional tests that can determine the nature of this lesion.  A Magnetic resonance angiogram (MRA) may be done to rule out a possible hemangioma or AV malformation.  If the lesion is indeed causing a lot of symptoms, then removal may be warranted.  This could be in the form of open surgery, or sophisticated methods such as the gamma knife.  I suggest you discuss all of these options with your doctors.

Regards and God bless.
