: Another question, please.  I just read an article written by a neurologist, about what they look for in an exam.  I noticed two things, my father's hands shake on both sides, not just one, and his tremors increase when he reaches for something, or holds his hands out, or it does sometimes, anyway.  He usually does have at rest tremors, though they are fairly small.  This seems at odds for Parkinson's?  Today, he refuses to go to the dr. again.  I'm just trying my best.  Thanks for any advice.
==========================================================================
This tremor could be due to Parkinsons Disease, a variant of Parkinsons,
disease of the cerebellum or simply benign essential tremor.
It really is not possible to speculate any further at this stage as to which
exact condition he suffers from as the diagnosis is a very subtle one
in some cases and he really needs to be examined by a neurologist.
This is beyond the scope of second hand diagnosis either by reading articles
or over the internet. I would reiterate that, the fact that his father did
not develop the disease and lived to old age makes it highly unlikely that
this is Huntingtons.
As regards persuading him to see a physician there is little else we can
contribute.
