by D ave Replogle, Apr 01, 2001 12:00AM
Well here i go with this story of mine. This all started in march of 99 when i was at work and lifted something and i thought i was having a heartattack.Well i rushed to the er room and they did a ekg and said it was normal so i went to my familiy doctor he put me on antiinflamation drugs for a while but that did nothing so he sent me to a pain center for some shots of steroids well i was laying there when they gave me the shots my heart dropped from 90 bpm to 19 bpm the doc said that that was normal?Every since them shots i have been dizzy all the time and vomit once or twice a week i am seeing  a shrink and they say its a combination of anxiety and deppression so they have me on xanax and buspar i feel a little better but i still feel dizzy and nauseated usually everyday i have had bllod work done negative and ekgs negative they just did a eeg waiting on the results??? Do u have any suggestions on if its nero or mental or i dont no???? what test would they do next if the eeg is normal??? ok thanks for your time.

Dear Dave:

From what you have told me, I can't tell you much.  Yes, this can be from anxiety.  Actually, if your heart rate was only at 19 beats per minute for a prolonged time, likely you had severe ischemic damage to multiple organs and would be having multiple problems of brain damage, kidney damage, and heart damage that would have landed you into the hospital for a prolonged period.  So, I would expect that it was very transitory.  I will bet that the EEG will be normal.  From what your telling me, I would favor that you have an anxiety disorder.

Sincerely,
