I am 28 years old and had my 1st tonic-clonic seizure the other day

I want to know what to do next.  What questions do I need to ask my doctor?  Can this happen once and never again?

Hi, some investigations are needed to find out the cause. Do you have family history of seizure? How you know that it was tonic clonic? Describe your symptoms to the doctor, how you felt before and after the seizure.

Ask doctor what could be the cause for seizure and whether medication is needed or not. Investigations like MRI and EEG are done to find out the cause. Relax, and avoid driving for a while till you see the doctor.

The seizure happened at my son's school.  The school nurse has explained to me what happened and what kind of seizure it was.  The problem with describing the symptoms before and after are that I don't remember.  I don't even remember being on the side of the room that it happened on.  And when I came to all I remember it throwing up in the trash can and feeling confused.  When my husband got there, about the same time as the ambulance, he was telling the EMT's that I had had a seizure and he said I argued with him saying that no I didn't.   And like I said I still have no recollection of what happened.  Is that normal?

Hi, yes it is very normal and is quite suggestive of seizure as patient goes into post ictal depression phase after seizure. Please get yourself investigated. Take care
