I don't feel hunger?

I don't feel hunger?

For as long as I can remember, I have never felt hunger. I get cravings but never hunger pains or the feeling that I NEED to eat. My stomach rumbles, but even then I don't feel anything.
I've been told I never cried as a baby (like, my parents could take me over to a friend's and be there for hours and I would never make a sound. Apparently I would go weeks without crying and when I did, it was because I needed something like a diaper change) so I'm assuming this isn't a learned behaviour, and it has been suggested by family doctors when I was younger that it was neurological.

I was always a super picky eater as a kid and still am. I pretty much live off fruits and veggies and it's not uncommon for me to go a day or two without eating. As a result I am underweight by my bmi, but just barely. I eat because I like the foods or I get a craving for it (again, not anything stomach related, just my brain saying "hmm, an apple sounds really yummy right now") I try to eat balanced meals but it just feels like a waste of money since I am a student on my own and eating has always been more a pleasurable thing than something that felt necessary.

I'm 19; fairly active because I ride horses and like the outdoors, but I don't exercise otherwise; I'm really curious as to why I don't ever feel hungry? Could it be something bigger?

Hi there. The various causes of anorexia or loss of appetite are depression, gastro esophageal reflux disease, GERD, heartburn, peptic ulcer, bowel disease or disease of gastrointestinal tract like gall bladder disease, medications, both non prescription and prescription, loss of sense of taste, inflammation like chronic infectious and inflammatory diseases, cancer, hormone disorders like addison’s disease and brain damage due to stroke or dementia. You need to consult a physician with this concerns and he would like to investigate these possible causes in you, clinically and with blood tests. This will help in diagnosis and correction of the same. Take care.

Thanks for the answer, but I don't think any of those are it. This is something that has been going on for forever, not something developed.

I didn't want to see a doctor on this because I currently do not have medical insurance and I've learned to live with it. It's more a curiosity thing
