I have a weird numbness in my tongue and face

I just wondered if anyone could figure out why I have a numb feeling in my tongue and cheeks...I can still feel my tongue, but It feels like it has a film over it like it has been burnt. It dont hurt, but it changes how things taste alot more. I am feeling some tingly numbness in my cheeks too, but that comes and goes. I have anxeity problems and I have back problems and just had surgery on my shoulder in august. I dont know if I have a pinched nerve somewhere or what, but this is annoying! I am almost afraid to bring it up to my doctor, especially where I live they are bad about not giving the right diagnosis. That is if they even test you at all! I have seen alot of things on this site about people with similar problems, just wondering if you could help me with knowing where I should start when I see my doctor next time.. Thanks
