IVIG & Herpes Simplex

I have CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy), I suppose it's residual damage from my 6 month paralytic bout with GBS (Guillain Barre Syndrome) almost 8 years ago. I have been on IVIG since Oct., 07. I have recently developed a severe Herpes sore on my lower lip, which has affected the feeling on the lower right side of my mouth and bottom teeth. The sore has subsided ... it's been about 2 weeks since the onset ... but the numbness has not. My neurologist will not put me back on the IVIG (it's been one month since my last infusion) until the Herpes goes away. He put me on 1,000 mg. of Valtrex. I'm also on Lyrica and Neurontin. Any clue if this numbness will dissipate altogether? I thought the IVIG was supposed to build up my immune system. Why would he not want me on it now?
