Ilioinguinal Nerve entrapment?

by chewymix, Jul 22, 2004 12:00AM
Hi,

I've been having these symptons for 2 years now - After aex with my wife one morning i noticed that my left testicel had ascended into my abdomen. I pushed it down and was left with a burning type feeling in the area. This slowly faded after 2 weeks or so to be replaced with pain in my perineum made worse with sitting. This never went away as such but sometimes it is worse than others. A pain/burning sensation between my legs.

About a month ago my inner left thigh went tight and then numb - When the feeling came back the burning from my groin from when this first started had also returned. This went on to make my perineum pain worse also.

Is it possible that as my testicle rose up this has done some damage of some sort to the ilioinguinal nerve? I'm getting symptons similar to Pudendal neuralgia however as i can attribute this to a groin trauma i'm not sure if this is the cause. I have had MRI's on my back and also facet joint injections and these have not worked. I'm trying to get in to see a urologist as this pain started in my groin but i wonder what the experts think.

Is it possible that the Ilioinguinal nerve could be causing this and it is referring pain into the perineum? What would be the best tests for this?

thanks

Tom

The ilioinguinal nerve passes through the superficial ring of the inguinal canal. Therefore I suppose it is possible to injure the nerve. I would agree with seeing a urologist. They are more familar with the perineal region, and can then make the appropriat referals.
