Incredible weekness in legs then in arms, now unable to maintain grip

Hi,

My Cousin is a 26 year old girl and was perfectly fine by 25 untill one day she felt weekness in her legs. Then day by day this weekness increased and now she is not even able to walk properly. Now her gripping power is also vanishing day by day. Even she cannot hold a pen these days. Consulted many doctors but no solution yet.

Please help us.

Hi,

How are you?
Does she have any other symptom apart from muscle weakness like loss of sensation etc?
There is a possibility that this is muscular dystrophy.
It is characterized by progressive muscle weakness of voluntary skeletal muscles. The major symptoms include waddling gait, frequent falls, and difficulty climbing up and down the stairs and enlarged muscles.
There is no specific treatment for MD. Physical therapy exercise and brace are a few options available.
It is very difficult to tell without examining the patient.
Please consult a neurologist and discuss this possibility. Keep us posted!
