Infant reflexes present at age 5

by tinymama, Mar 30, 2009 10:47PM
My 5yo child was recently referred to OT after an injury (broken arm) to help him regain/obtain lifeskills such as snapping pants, zippers, handwriting and drawing improvement, climbing, swinging and general grasp.  The OT made particular note that he still has several infant reflexes that she feels are hampering his skills.  She states he must move his head in order to track objects (something I have not noticed) has a non-integrated STNR and partially integrated ATNR.  She feels we need to make an appointment with a pediatric neurologist.   She feels there may also be issues with bilateral movement.  He is an amazingly sharp child who can read at the 2nd grade level, ride a bike, and loves to be with people.   He is a bit awkward running and has excessive fears.  What might a Neurologist be looking for in this child?
