Hi Jay,
I have epilepsy, (grand mal), and read about Partial seizures in a Harvard Medical book. But I don't wanna give you an unnecessary scare, just something you might wanna ask your Dr. next time you see him/her. This is a paragraph from the book:
'Partial seizures involve only part of the brain but can sometimes spread to other areas of the brain and become secondary generalized seizures. Partial seizures are more likely to indicate a serious underlying brain disorder than generalized seizures'.
This does not mean you per se, but that it can. Remember, epilepsy, is different for everybody. Another thing to keep in mind, stress can cause seizures. Experience will teach you that.
I hope this was helpful, and wish you good health.
Bill
re question by Jay My siezures are Complex Partial. Have full siezure but remain conscious.
Dear Jay:
Sorry to hear that you have epilepsy. It is not uncommon for trauma induced injury to produce epilepsy. The time of onset can be variable, from hours to decades. It sounds like they have been trying to fine tune your medications as you continued to have breakthroughs until 8 months ago. Most people with epilepsy, approximately 60-70% are seizure free with their first medication. It sounds like you may be in this group. This is good.
Sincerely,
CCF Neuro MD
