I'll start from the beginning. I've suffered Insomnia for at least 10 years and have been on either Ambien or Ambien CR ever since. Some nights it works...others not so much. I'll also throw in that I've had a moderate bilateral hand tremor as long as I can remember and no doctor has ever given me a reason for it. OK, moving on. I also developed Migraines about 10 years ago and the solution was to try a parade of instant remedies (Imitrex, Relpax, etd.) of which NONE worked. 2 years ago I caught Viral Meningitis and had ridiculous headaches, so was put first on Elavil (didn't help) and then on Topamax (somewhat helped). Shortly thereafter, my GP put me on year-round birth control thinking perhaps my hormones were causing my headaches. That seemed to help a little bit.
Fast forward to October 2008. Out of nowhere I start having bouts of Vertigo. Go to the GP & ENT and they both tell me I have an inner ear problem and to just wait it out. About 2 weeks later I have the Migraine of my life and end up in the ER. MRI comes out clean, and the next week I'm at the Neurologist. He says I have a Migraine disorder (duh) and puts me back on Topamax. 2 days later I had a grand mal seizure. It was the first seizure I've ever had in my life. I had at least 1 seizure (most petit mal) every day for a week. I went in for an EEG and had a grand mal right at the end of the test. It turned out not to be an epileptic seizure. My neuro scheduled me for a long-term video EEG, and then suddenly the seizures stopped... But a new symptom appeared: excruciating leg pain. I couldn't sleep, lay down or hardly walk. Not to mention the fact that since this entire thing started I've had no sense of balance. I wobble when I walk and have been known to fall down for no reason. Since the seizures seemed to have stopped, we cancelled the long-term EEG. My neuro diagnosed me with Conversion Syndrome, as I am also a PTSD and severe Anxiety sufferer. However, as I type this, I just had my first seizure in a week. I have literally had a Migraine for 3 weeks now and have been taking Vicodin just to mask the pain. Now I'm out of medicine and am in a panic. I started Midrin tonight, am still taking Valium for the Vertigo spells as needed, and Klonopin at night for the leg pain. I am completely confused why I had a seizure tonight after going a whole week seizure-free.
Is there something we're missing here? MRI, MRA, CT, EEG and bloodwork all came out beautifully. I appear to be a perfectly healthy 30 year old woman. I don't drink, smoke or use drungs. Is it possible that the trauma of my childhood is causing all of these terrible physical problems and that the true answer is as simple as therapy? My father has RLS and Fibromyalgia so I am very sensitive to anything of the neurological variety. I will not leave a stone unturned. I look forward to your thoughts and thank you in advance.
