Hello, long story short, 2 years ago I fell and hit the back of my head on cement followed by a 3 day fever with severe headaches, 1 year ago while hiking I fell and hit the back of my head on a large rock followed by a fever and severe headaches for 1 day. Last week I hit the back of my head at the gym, followed by severe headaches, feels as though blood is rushing up to my skull and as if my brain is about to explode. And this time the pain has remained persistent and has been worsening day by day for the past 6 days, pain increases dramatically from exercise or an increased heart rate.
My MRI taken 2 days ago, my results come out in a week... so I am a bit worried after reading up on ICP.
could that enlarged part of my brain be causing me to have Intracranial pressure? Am I really experiencing Intracranial pressure? What should I be doing right away to prevent further injury?
The area circled in the picture is not an enlarged part. An increased ICP would show as enlarged ventricles, which can be seen in the transverse sections. Can you narrate what the MRI report says here ? Do you have a copy ?
Just to add one more point, when the head hits a hard surface, the injury to the brain inside occurs at the opposite end. This is called as countercoup injury.
It is possible that you may have an increased ICP. Please get your eyes checked by an ophthalmologist for any optic disc change.
Here are some of the photos I think your looking for,
My MRI hasn't been evaluated yet I don't see any narration inside I just have the MRI pictures.
Tell me if you need anymore pictures
Thanks doctor :)
The occipital lobe shows some hemorrhages. It is definitely injured. On looking at all the other pictures, it seems there is a definite fracture of the inner table. The integrity of the dura mater is also compromised. These are signs of concussion. Please keep in mind that this is a photograph of the MRI I am watching.
These are important issues to be discussed with your neurologist. Please keep me posted when you get the report.
What should I be doing right now? My family doctor is refusing to let me see neurologist, at what point should I go to the hospital? I am experiencing on going headaches, blurry vision, I see floating stars, and some times I want to vomit.
Right now, you should be seeing a Neurologist or a Neurosurgeon at the earliest. These are definite symptoms of brain dysfunction. Has your physician seen the MRI images at least ? I would suggest you should write an urgent letter to him requesting for a Neurologist's opinion. You can express yourself better when you write.
My mom tried convincing my family doctor to let me see a neurologist but after the second time my doctor called the police on my mother, my doctor said all the doctors who said there is something wrong with my brain are crazy idiots.
So my only options now is the hospital or not I don't know what to do... please advise...
Well my family doctor isn't in the hospital I haven't been to the hospital yet. I am still waiting on my MRI report. My family doctor is incompitent he refused to write me to a neurologist to get my MRI I had to pay out of my own pocket for my own MRI report
hi.... I've been looking at this problem and wondering what kind of insurance you have???? My sister had none. on Jan 2 she went to the dr and they did a CT Scan and found a 12 inch tumor on her left ovary that they suspected was cancerous.... Not good news.... yet they were going to refer her to a GYN that the suspected would not even operate on such a large thing.... I went on line and e-mailed a Dr. at the Marshfield Clinic and explained that she was broke.... They agreed to treat her.... I had her get a printed report of the CT Scan from her family DR.... when she called them they asked her IF this Dr. Knew of her financial situation..... Anyway we went to get the report and that office lady was not so friendly with me.... and acted put out to make the referral.... but I encouraged her to do so.... (if you know what I mean) after waiting several hours ... Icalled the Nice Dr. OBGYN Oncologist office to see if they were faxed the referral.... they said NO I faxed the copied I had and made a TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN letter..... 12 Inch Ovarian Tumor.... got to get it Out of Me ... I'm broke... Anyone willing to treat Me??? Nice OBGYN Oncologist called family DR who Promised Nice Dr that they would make the referral...... My sister had surgery on Jan. 22 and it looks like they got all of the cancer and her appendix...lymph nodes.... And I would say they saved her life..... She did not have time to wait..... and it sounds like You don't either..... You can fight with this A-Hole Dr after you get taken care of.... for Now Just step on some heads. Try not to worry too much about the bill.... they don't put the stuff back in after they fix you. gracem
OOOHHHH and one more thing.... Sounds like all of these accidents are happening when you are excersizing.... Maybe Fat doesn't look so bad to me.... You prove that all that activity can be dangerous to ones health.... no more hiking or the gym for me...HE HE HE.... gracem
I wanted to contact you to let you know that I am also having headache problems
and since I was getting no where with family doctor, I went to emergency room and
had a CT scan which was negative and other lab tests run. The doctor on duty that
night told me to go to a neurologist. I called the neurologist's office myself the next day
and made an appointment. It will take me a month to get in for the appointment, but
25 years ago I was having similar type headaches and was admitted to the hospital and
the neurologist that attended to me gave me a medicine called limbitrol and apparently\
the dosage was high and after 5 pills the headaches were gone. I have also had 3
bad falls on ice in the past several years, and have hit the back of my head. I had
two falls on ice on concrete on the same day. The only thing I experiencd at the time
was a bump on head and soreness for several days, no vomiting or dizziness. Please
let me know it you receive help for your problem. It is very depressing and frustrating
to have pain every single day of your life. My headaches always in back of head have
been persistant for 3 weeks now.
