I like to donate blood frequently and sometimes only wait a month or so before donating again. One is supposed
to wait 2 1/2 mos. before donating again. Is it harmful for me to do what I do? Could it be harmful for the recipient
of the blood? Thank you! Rondi
It is very bad for yourself to donate in less than a month. I am suprised that you are able to do so because the red cross only allows blood donation every 60 days. That is an opportunity every 2 months. Any more than that is detrimental to your health.
There are certain cells within your blood that take 2 months+ to mature. If you are, by some lark, donating anymore than that, you are putting yourself in danger! If you have received any innoculations, etc. You definitely should be consulting a physician before donating.
You may find that even every 60 days is too much for you because some people take longer to fully recover. I have one kidney, so I go every 90 days.
I do not know the effects on the recipients; however, you are no good to them if you are ill because you don't have sufficient antibodies to fight your own infections!

What you do is a gift... don't waste it!
