I've MS. Can I take Accutane too?

I've a terrible breakout after having methylprednisolone IV treatment for MS. I'm currently on gabapentin, methylcobal and a vitamin B pill. I'm considering taking accutane for treatment of the acne proble s but would like to know if there are any negative effects between the medications.

Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with your doctor.

The acne related to steroid use often improves with discontinuation of the steroid. To my knowledge, there is no specific contraindication to the use of accutane in patients with MS. To my knowledge, accutane does not have drug interactions with the other medications that you are on. As a patient with MS, you can expect to have the same risks and side effects as other people on accutane, and these side effects and risks need to be discussed with you by your dermatologist before you start taking it. However, I would also run this by your neurologist who manages your MS just to make sure he/she feels that accutane may affect your MS in some way.

Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
