Here is my question???? I was currently taking Zonegran until I had a hospital stay recently and they switched me to KeppraKeppra Keppra xr. I know nothing of the drug and it seems to be fine w/o side effects yet, but could they be there and what about using during pregnancy and nursing? We are planning...
KeppraKeppra Keppra xr or livetiracetam is classified as a pregnancy category C drug.
This means that the drug has not been proven to be teratogenic in animal studies but human studies have not been done yet. The drug can be taken if the benefits outweigh the risks.
You need to follow up regularly with your doctor or neurologist and ask him/her about the medication and whether the dose needs to be altered in pregnancy or lactation.
Thanks in advance!
