Lack of Pain- Second Request

Posted By Help Me on December 19, 1997 at 17:20:11:

I was in a car accident, my head was whipped shoulder to shoulder.  After months of physical therapy, pain pills and antidepressants for pain I pleaded with DR to rule out herniated discs.  He only did because I get severe headaches that start in the back of my head come around to nose and upper teeth.  Although there is always some form of pain in back of head and nose and teeth are sensitive.  Mri showed herniated discs at C6-7 and problem discs at C4-5 and C5-6.  However, I do not have the usual wrist/finger pain that is usually associated with herniated discs.  Ther herniation is central to left.
I have severe muscular pain in neck, shoulders and upper back.  I seem to lower my pain if I lay around and do nothing.  Any activity gives instant tinghting of the muscles.  Myleogram confirmed MRI with C4-5 as being a compressed nerve root.  The kicker is I have no nerve pain.  What pain I do have is perceived by me to be muscle pain and its mainly on the right side.  Nerve conduction test taken about 10 mos after accident of both arms and legs was normal.
I am unable to fully move my head in any direction and when I do I hear a cracking sound I think is at the base of my skull.
The only tingling I have is when I raise my arms above my head and its in my fingers.  My arms and hands get so cold.
Dr's (there have been many incl neurologist and neurosurgon) don't want to do anything including remove the herniated disc.  Can anyone help explain why I have the pain on the wrong side (they keep telling me I should have pain on left)?  Why no pain where' there's supposed to be and why what pain I do have sems to be muscular.  I'm on the perverbial one DR to the next merry go round and I want to get off.
